In a tension-filled contest between the Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals, pitcher Juan Pizarro was superb. The Chicago left-hander, who is tied for 4th in the AL in complete games with 2, spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Chicago occupies 4th place in the American League Central Division at 32-37.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game scoreless in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Royals allowed the White Sox to score the winning run.

"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Pizarro said.
