Cubs Top Phillies, 4-2
|
The Chicago Cubs dealt the Philadelphia Phillies a 4-2 loss in 10 innings at Citizens Bank Park. Billy Williams was the star on offense. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win puts the Cubs at 34-33, while the Phillies drop to 39-27.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Williams delivered big-time for Chicago, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Erskine Mayer. The game-changing hit put the Cubs on top, 3-2.
In postgame remarks, Williams simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
