Bud Fowler Goes Hitless

04/18/1886

Detroit second baseman Bud Fowler experienced something against the St. Louis Browns he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game.

The Browns pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 22 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Wolverines to a 4-2 victory at Sportsmans Park.

"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 22-game hitting streak," Fowler joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories."

Fowler is hitting .364 this year with no home runs and 4 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .380, 2 walks and scored 14 times.
